Going fishing and camping

Published by admin on July 19, 2010

I hear the lakes and rivers are full of fishermen right now and they are catching a few. I haven’t had the time to wet a hook yet, but would like to soon. I like to fish for bass or catfish. If I don’t have much luck with them, just give me a few worms and I will fish for bream next to the shore. We use to go on week long camping trips around the lake that would give us the opportunity to fish for all types of fish and share stories around the campfire.

Have you ever fished or ate bream? I pronounce it “brim” but the proper spelling is bream. Bream or Brim are a very good eating fish and really the best tasting fish out of fresh waters. The big problem with bream is catching them large enough to eat. It is tough to find big bream, but when you catch them “eating size” then it’s fun fishing for all.

Kids love to bream fish and you get bites quick. Just put a small hook on and a little bit of a worm or cricket and they will tear it up all day long. Typically you just have to cast a few feet from the bank and the bream will find your bait. It’s easy to catch bream and the younger folks will fish for hours if they are getting bites from bream. Taking them to deeper waters and trying to land bigger fish takes patience and not all fishermen have the patience to wait for the big one to strike.

Athletic endorsement

Published by admin on July 18, 2010

It really can difficult for ordinary people to go to their jobs everyday and work 8 hours at a job they don’t like. Only to come home and watch entertainers getting paid big money to star in movies or to play sports. I know athletes get paid outrageous sums of money for playing a game they enjoy. It’s one of the benefits they have for being blessed with such natural talent. It doesn’t help the common folks to know that these guys can also make huge bucks by doing commercials or endorsements for different companies. Many athletes do endorsements for hair care products that can help with dry scalp and dandruff.

You can tell athletes get paid really well for their jobs and the endorsements they do by the jewelry they wear. Some athletes have diamond earrings as big as a coin in your pocket on one or both of their ears. You see some with gold chain after gold chain wrapped around their neck. A gold necklace isn’t something the average person can afford and having several on at once is not good taste. It seems the lottery is the only hope for those of us that can’t hit a baseball 400 feet or dunk a basketball for having a luxury lifestyle. You really can’t blame the athletes, I would take the money too; but they could wear less jewelry when they are doing these high dollar endorsements for companies.

Moving in NYC with CityMove

Published by admin on June 25, 2010

citymoveMost of us have had the pleasure of moving either across town or across the country. Now there is a recently remodeled site called Citymove.com where you can hire a New York moving company to help pack and move your household items. Either within the city or within the state you can now put your requirements out there and then you have movers bid on your project . What is commonly referred to as a reverse auction it allows you the customer to control all the aspect of the transaction and then select from the highest bidder. At CityMove you check the moving companies reviews from other customers that have used them in order to understand what you are getting.

The design and simplicity of the site makes it easy for anyone to create a free account and put your next moving project out for bid. There are no costs to you as the customer because CityMove charges a small percentage to the actual moving company on the total bid to cover their costs. While most of their bids and customers are located within NYC you can bid and finds jobs for longer moves out of state. For both consumers and movers this can be a big advantage because one it saves both parties considerable time which in the long run can help lower the overall cost of the move.

Sellign your treasure online

Published by admin on April 1, 2010

selling_treasuresI was looking for ecommerce solutions partners  to help in my online business and provide guidance on what elements that I need to have in order to attract and retain customers. I was able to come across various eCommercePartners where you could purchase various consumer items from clothing to electronics. They provide a total solution for those that are looking to build a ecommerce website and help to drive traffic and increase sales.  There were some companies that I looked at where you could buy discount Womens perfume for all the major labels. I was also able to align with a business partner where they offer inventory that I can list for free and then get paid for each sale that I make. Not a bad way to get started! I signed up for free and listed some of the items online, and sold some. Had them shipped and made a little bit of money with just a little bit of effort.

Then as I was trying to upload inventory every other week, I thought it would be great if I could just get people to my  eMall store where finding a company that could help with the  professional web design. Then they could see the entire inventory, they would make the purchase, and then I would get paid on the difference between the wholesale cost, and the cost I had listed on my site. The question was how do you get traffic and visibility without spending a lot of money initially? Plus how can I create a secure payment gateway for my customer to pay that was cost effective and secure. I eventually moved away from trying to create my own online store and ended working with various vendors where I would just promote their sites through various means and then collect payments on sales that I sent their way.

finding good corporate travel

Published by admin on March 19, 2010

If you are someone that likes to travel out of town for business or vacations, then there is a great way to achieve this and save money too. As a business traveler you can spend a great amount of time searching for a room, and finding the best deals on rental cars, and just overall finding the best accommodations possible. So the next time you’re planning for your next trip out of town, then be sure to explore a travel management company. Make sure you don’t have to pay more money than you have to.
Now CT Business Travel is not only a good deal in the States, but they have some of the most competitive rates oversea as well. I would love to travel to Greece and to see all those little islands that are around the southern parts of Greece. They can help plan your business travel in Greece that they are associated with and can hook you up with some of the most popular places in Greece. They can help you find great deals in Athens, Mykonos, Chania, Volos, and many other great places in Greece.

Now once I was over in Europe I would probably like to take in a lot of the sights, sounds, and history of some of the other countries that are overseas in Europe. Italy would be another place I would have to visit, if I was in Greece and so close by. I just couldn’t imagine the streets that are made of water in Venice and having to travel around on boats to get around.

Can you find treasures in Las Vegas

Published by admin on March 6, 2010

Las Vegas has been acutely affected by the economic downturn as much, if not more than most other cities in the United States. Las Vegas exemplified the economic bubble that plagued the country. It became a destination catering to visitors flush with cash and credit from inflated home equity and liberal lending. Resort developers continued to build bigger, more lavish properties to serve the unquenchable thirst for hotel rooms and casinos. As a result, Las Vegas was one of the fastest growing cities in the country as people followed the growth and newly created jobs. The real estate market exploded fueled by speculators, investors and newly arrived residents chasing the dream that the city’s growth couldn’t be stopped. Unfortunately, the Las Vegas economic bubble burst was much more pronounced than other cities with less inflated economies and real estate. Las Vegas’ house of cards finally came tumbling down hard when the Great Recession hit.
LasVegas_treasuresIn a report released earlier this year by RealtyTrac, the Las Vegas metropolitan area suffered a foreclosure rate that was five times the national average and the highest rate in the country in 2009. Home purchase and rental prices have fallen dramatically. The gaming industry, which was once thought recession proof, has had unprecedented job cuts and lay offs. Some Casino operators such as Station Casinos have even filed bankruptcy.
Where economic blight occurs, crime quickly follows. In 2009 an annual national survey named Nevada the most crime-ridden state in the country. The authors of the study wrote “Ranked least favorably among the states was Nevada, followed by Louisiana and South Carolina.” The report went onto say that Nevada’s murder rate was “nearly seven times higher than New Hampshire’s, and the Silver State reported a rape rate that was almost 50% higher than the national average.” Last year, Forbes named Las Vegas the 4th most dangerous city in the USA.
With the crime increase in Sin City, you can bet that the Las Vegas Bail Bonds business is doing well. This seems to be the only Las Vegas business thriving during the recession. Although, business may be brisk for a Las Vegas bail bondsman, Clark County itself is having trouble keeping up. In a city that never sleeps, the court’s Pretrial Services Division at the Clark County jail will shut down from midnight to 8 a.m. That means friends, relatives and Las Vegas bail bond companies won’t be able to post bail until the morning. For someone trying to post bail for a loved one, the extra time will feel like an eternity. For a city where money talks, the collapsing house of cards means even government agencies are feeling the recessionary effects just like everyone else.

Will you get Michael on DVD

Published by admin on January 12, 2010

In case you have been on another planet for the last couple of months, the King of Pop is no longer with us. He passed away in his sleep by having too many prescription drugs in his system and caused his heart to stop beating. Michael Jackson’s untimely death was on the eve of his big concert tour and he died at his home in California at the age of 50. Many have compared the similarities to his death and the King of Rock Elvis Pressley’s death. It seems both entertainers were hooked on prescription drugs and both died early as a result to their drug addictions. Elvis Pressley is still very popular today and it would appear that Michael Jackson’s legacy will last just as long as Elvis’s did.

mjDo you plan get the new Michael Jackson movie on DVD when it becomes available? Imagine holding a Michael Jackson party with some of his classic music videos and then ending with his final event. Setting up your home theater system with surround sound and home theater seating to create that perfect atmosphere for those long time fans. Michael and his music has no boundaries because even my kids love listening to his music. If so, please come back here and leave your reviews for his last performance we will ever get to see. It was interesting that  the new Jackson movie  only played in theaters for 2 weeks. I’m sure all the money will be going to those that were so heavily invested in MJ and his upcoming concert tour that will not happen now. This Is It would be able to sell movie tickets to fans past the 2 week time frame they have laid out for this event. It would seem they could make a lot more money on this movie, if they would let it stay in theaters longer. Perhaps this is a well-planned out idea to surprise fans with an extra week, after the first 2 weeks are complete. Promoters may also be looking at a video or DVD deal that will sell this new MJ movie after it is done in theaters and right before the Christmas holiday shopping season.

Favorite Genesis Song

As I was mowing the yard today, I had my iPod and listening to some classic Genesis. I got to thinking “what is my favorite genesis song.”

It has to be “In the Air tonight”. I somehow remember when I was about 7-8 years old. I was riding in my Aunt and Unlces White Chevy Malibu traveling from Lubbock, TX to Clovis, NM. This song came on and my cousins and I were in the back, just hanging out. Things just seemed more simple back in those days.

What is your favorite Genesis Song?? Do you dare tell!

PSS: It struck me that why not create a blog dedicated to Favorites, so we will be launching MyFavoriteblank.com very soon.

Are you famous?

Published by admin on February 4, 2007

You have heard the phrase” Everyone has their 15 minutes of fame” Well it seems this day to become famous, you have to marry and divorce a washed up Pop Icon, pay for monthly massages from the same sex, or meet Chris Hanson in a strangers backyard. It seems people are becoming famous for all the wrong reasons. I guess that I am equating the amount of face time someone is getting in the national press. If you really want to be famous, why not videotape your self helping out at a homeless shelter, helping your neighbor mow their lawn, and post that on YouTube. Oh thats right. we are only interested in situations that lead to destruction and harm to someone else. Will the real Greg Brady please stand UP! It is usually those that are giving back to the community, taking the time to spend time with a kid to mentor them that never get mentioned. To me those that give away with asking in return or the famous ones, even though we may have never heard of them. My hats off to people like my parents, who gave everything they had and made sacrifices so that my siblings and I could have a better life. Those are the people that should be famous in my book.

Traveling Abroad

Published by admin on December 19, 2006

When traveling overseas it is always to take some extra precautions. Eat carefully if you’re going to a country with an increased risk of traveler’s diarrhea. Steaming-hot, well-cooked food is usually safest. Avoid eating foods from street vendors, unpasteurized dairy products, and raw or uncooked seafood. Peel fruits yourself. Drink water from commercially sealed bottles or drink carbonated beverages. Avoid ice. Use bottled water when you brush your teeth.

A great way to plan for that vacation is to view travel trailers. At World travels, they provide great video clips of vacation places across the globe. Like this great video of the Phi Phi islands set yo U2s , “It’s a beautiful day” you can sign up for free and share your videos with other travelers as well. A great resource to get a glimpse of the area that you are planning on visiting.

George is Gay?

George is gay?

After watching last nights episode of Grays Anatomy, my wife and I were talking about the character George ( played by T.R.Knight) and my stated that he must be gay. He has had the worst luck with women, and his demeanor on the show, tended to play on the fact that he is not at all comfortable around women. This morning to my surprise it came out that in fact he is gay. So will this change the character on Greys Anatomy? Will Meredith and Dr. McDreamy ever get together. This show started off great, and like many before, are headed down the path of : Will the two ever get together, and if they do will that be the end of the show. While the on and off again romance works in the short term, it eventually runs it course, and you the shows become too predicatable.
